Cacao Adventures
Cacao Adventures is a family project rooted between San Diego and the Peruvian jungle. Founded by Jose, who returns every year to walk the same forest paths and visit the same farming families, it is built on something rare in the chocolate world: long-term relationships, personal presence, and hands-on craft at every step of the harvest.
They work with wild and single-origin cacao from the Upper Amazon Basin — one of the cradles of wild cacao diversity, as recent archaeology and genetic research confirm. Every batch is small and fully traceable, tied to specific harvests and communities rather than anonymous bulk supply. Jose personally trains partner communities in fermentation and drying, tasting each batch and adjusting the process to let ancestral cacao flavors come through without over-processing.
Integrity runs through everything they do: they test for heavy metals and publish the results openly, pay a premium for quality, and plan harvests together with the families who tend these forests — so cacao remains a living tradition, not a short-term commodity.
