Ora Cacao

Ora Cacao began with a moment of discovery. In 2012, founder and Stanford engineering graduate Jonas Ketterle encountered sipping chocolate in Oaxaca, Mexico. A few years later, he left his career in solar energy to explore cacao making, starting with whole cacao beans. That curiosity grew into a focus on unsweetened ceremonial cacao, with a mission to inspire awe and wonder through the simple experience of a cup.

Ora sources cacao through direct-trade relationships with more than 1,000 family farms across Belize, Colombia, Guatemala, Tanzania, and Uganda. Each origin brings its own character to the cup, offering an invitation to explore cacao beyond the familiar sweetness of chocolate. The Ora team makes and packages its cacao in-house, keeping the craft close from whole bean to finished drinking chocolate discs.

Connection and transparency are central to Ora’s approach. The company reports paying 100% above commodity cacao prices, visiting its farming partners regularly, and publishing an annual social impact report. Its easy-to-use discs bring that thoughtful approach into everyday preparation: warmed water or nut milk, cacao, and a blender or frother are all you need to begin.

We carry Ora Cacao because it offers a thoughtful way to discover cacao in its unsweetened form. These are cups for slowing down, exploring the character of an origin, and making a little room for wonder. Whether you’re beginning a ceremonial cacao practice or simply looking for a rich, cacao-forward drink, Ora invites you to make the moment your own.
